Finally, at long last, the big day has arrived: the launch of MOSSPOP

ImageMOSS BUREAU is pleased to announce the launch of mossPOP.com, our new online design store. mossPOP offers an informed and smartly curated selection of design objects, both classic and contemporary, watches, jewelry, books, furniture, lighting and tabletop. It also features exclusive work from exhibitions at Moss Bureau.

The name says it all. We’re exploding with gifts, clustered into gender appropriate lists, for every gender we could think of. Discounted sales so sudden, even we don’t know when they’ll happen. And since we’re mobile-optimized for iPhone and Android devices, we’re popping up all over town.

And least but not last, you can bone up on our smart design quotes from legendary sources.

Built on the Volusion platform, mossPOP.com is the primary retail outlet for Moss Bureau, a design advisory service established in 2012 by Murray Moss and Franklin Getchell following the closing of Moss, their Soho gallery.

In addition to launching mossPOP.com, Moss Bureau recently curated a 3-D printing installation at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and is currently consulting on the retail operation at the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, CT, among other ongoing projects.

Pop: pop-up, popeye, popcorn, pop culture, pop music, pop star, Mary Poppins, Murray Moss, mossPOP. Writes itself, really.

Just like corn, if it’s hot enough. mossPOP.

Polaroid portraits in Warhol fright wigs, and yes, in Pittsburgh!

ImageThis is the big room at the Warhol Museum, with the big self portrait of Andy in the background, and our (amazing) blue and pink 3D-printed wigs under which guests were invited to pose, for their portait. See below for a random sampling of the many who lined up for this once in a lifetime opportunity. ImageImage

ImageAnd to PROVE it was all genuiine Polaroid portraiture, here’s someone receiving his actual Polaroid, fresh from the camera.

Murray in a wig in Pittsburgh

ImageIn the main room at the Warhol Museum, we installed two giant Fright Wigs, under which you were encouraged to stand and have your portrait taken, with a Polaroid–JUST LIKE ANDY USED TO DO! Here’s Murray, doing a test drive. And here’s what the setup looked like, just before the hordes of RAPID 2013 delegates arrived.

Five out of Four ain’t bad, either

Here’s that milliner extraordinaire Stephen Jones his very self, seated amongst his busts in front of a portrait of Andy. He had not seen them until he got to the Museum and is still getting over having four more of his own head in the same room.  We’re all installed and waiting for the attendees from the RAPID 2013 conference to arrive. Too bad you’re not here.

Three out of Four ain’t bad

Here are three of the Four Continents busts of Stephen Jones. There’s one more coming and IF YOU WERE GOING TO RAPID 2013 3-D PRINTING CONFERENCE, you’d be able to see them all, in Murray’s installation at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh on Monday. It’s not too late. You can still register. Also, it’s not raining in Pittsburgh.

You can go to Pittsburgh. You can go to the Warhol Museum. But you can’t go to Murray’s installation at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh

And you won’t be able to see the giant 3-D printed Fright Wigs (like the one in the Andy Self Portait) AND get your own portrait taken wearing the wig. Sorry. You can’t come. Unless you register for the RAPID 2013 conference, that is.  It really boils down to what you want to do with your life. Do you want to learn about  the most exciting technology happening today or not?

Murray’s curated an installation at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and you can’t go

SJ_red

There’s a big 3-D printing conference in Pittsburgh (called RAPID 2013) coming up and Murray has curated an installation for Materialise Belgium which will be the Conference opening night event. It’s at the Andy Warhol Museum and you can’t go. Because it’s only for Conference attendees. Sorry. It’s really really too bad you can’t go because it’s going to be groundbreaking and very cool. For instance, this red bust is of  London milliner extraordinaire Stephen Jones, and it’s one of four, different colors, one for each of four continents, and it’s an example of how amazing the resolution of 3-D printing can be now. And look at the pedestal–this is the first time one has been printed without internal support. You probably don’t know why this is such an innovation, but then, what do you know? You can’t even go to the installation. Click here for more info on the installation and RAPID 2013.  Click the photo, then enlarge to see how unbelievable the resolution can be now.
