Corian makes a great kitchen counter, sure, but a ring? Really?

Yessiree. Fresh for 2012, Moss has a boxful of lovely little rings made in Corian and lined with felt of many colors. Red, orange, blue, purple, yellow, black, green and chartreuse, to be exact. If you’ve ever wanted your hand to just kind of disappear when you’re in a modern kitchen, (and, really, who hasn’t?)
this is your chance. They’re only $65 each so you could get one for each finger. Or for each day of the week. Or some for day, some for night. Or uptown/downtown, Manhattan/Brooklyn. How about one for each failed Republican presidential candidate. Bloss could go on and on. But Bloss won’t.

Curiously, the prostitutes themselves preferred gold and diamonds

According to Susanne Klemm, the REDLIGHT jeweler. She said, last night at the Case Side chat at Moss, that her Amsterdam redlight district workspace still had a bed in it when she moved all her studio tools in. Ewwwwwww. And the working girls were still around during the year she worked there and she tried to interest them in her contemporary jewelry, but they weren’t into it. Unlike the working girls (and guys) in attendance at the chat. Look at them. Rapt. Wouldn’t you be? Sweetheart rings here.

Hey sweetheart, ring me.

Did you see the piece in the Times today about cameos? Apparently, they’re all the hipster rage. Well, we got our own cameos. Sweetheart Rings by Susanne Klemm, Dutch artist and jewelry maker. These are part of her “Red Light” collection, which, continuing our popular prostitute theme, was created when her studio was in the red light district of Amsterdam. We do not make these things up. Here a couple more.

The Gold Zipper Necklace

I mean, really. What can Bloss say? Bloss is so rarely at a loss for words but this situation is so complique, as the French might say. Or unzipped, as Bloss would say. Wearing a Zipper necklace would demonstrate solidarity. With whom, one might ask. Indeed. Quel fromage.

The Daily New: Clockwork Love “Burning” Necklace by Frank Tjepkema

Frank Tjepkema’s Clockwork Love project builds on his 2002 Bling Bling necklace, which was constructed of many thin layers of overlapping logos assembled in the shape of a cross. Clockwork Love comprises six different necklaces, each of which is composed of a multitude of different graphics etched from thin layers of steel. Larger symbolic references overlap layers of frozen mechanical arrangements meant to represent the inner workings of clocks and watches.

The Daily New: Band-Aid Mini Ring by Michelle Lopez

Michelle Lopez’s Band-Aid Rings are intended to be worn like Band-Aids, half-way down the finger, all the way to the knuckle, or on the tips of fingers. To create these rings, Lopez sculpted Band-Aids out of wax and cast them using the traditional lost-wax process commonly used in jewelry.

White Elephants

Part Two of Yael Friedman’s solo presentation in the Moss/Gallery Loupe CASE STUDY OF CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY is her exquisite collection of constructed paper rings called WHITE ELEPHANTS. Each is a unique hand-folded sculpture, like a maquette, perhaps.

Each ring is $325.

Ring of Color

You just can’t get more colorful than a ring made of carved crayon. Each is unique and each has a semi-precious stone embedded in its little crayon body. Created by Yael Friedman, as the third CASE STUDY IN CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY collaboration between Moss and Gallery Loupe. Beautiful, exotic AND you can draw with them!

Each ring $450.00.
