about bureaublogBureauBlog is your secret gateway to the innerworld of Moss Bureau. Behind the scenes, through the looking glass, up the down staircase, over the rainbow, all around the town. Our town. Any town. We cover the bureau-front, from top to toe, prow to stern, sea to shining see. We open the drawers, and draw our own conclusions. The designers, the artists, the interns, friends and foes, clients and miscreants, consultants and co-defendants, conmen and trangendereds, the Fairs and the unfair, the good fight and the bad lieutenant, lies, truths, massive cover-ups, mitigating circumstances, plausible deniabilities. The undercooked and the overlooked. Wet-work, dry wall, the dog, the pony, the smoke and the mirrors. We pull the wrapper off the snapper, look down the barrel, and open Pandora's box of worms. Fearless, feckless, and born to run. Sometimes a cigar really is just a cigar. Think different. It's later than you think.

Little Willa holds onto her dad, as Cathy McClure’s Carousel and Ferris Wheel spin and twirl and grind away. The strobes can make you believe anything. We believe in carnivals. Look below for more extreme spook.
Here’s a sneaky backstage peek into the working world of Moss Bureau as Cathy McClure’s Midway comes together just in time for the weekend’s festivities. Bot by bot she creates a fantasy of kinetic movement, and the show begins as her company of bronze elephants and horses and dancers come alive in the flashing lights.
Opening this weekend as the first exhibition at swanky and snarky Moss Bureau, it’s Cathy McClure’s MIDWAY, two completely wild and strange zoetropic carnival rides. You’re looking at The Wheel, a multilevel carousel complete with bronze and silver bots, all lit by strobe. You won’t believe your eyes, and you shouldn’t. Invitation for preview performances coming up tomorrow, plus MORTAL STILLNESS.
Yes, all you People of Interest, here’s a sneaky peek at Moss Bureau, at rest. We are moved in and open for business and rolling along. You can visit during the week, 11 to 6. And you’ll be hearing shortly about our first exhibition coming up mid May.
In honor of our move from one part of the city to another, and to make sure that you are always able to find us, no matter what, we are featuring the highly convenient and fairly hilarious Crumpled City Map. Like the name says, you can crumple it up and put in a tiny bag, and when you open it again, it’s good as new. Just like Moss. You can crumple us but you can’t crease us. As the old saying goes. Click on the map to get your own one.
Hey, everybody, come on down to Moss during this, our final week on Greene Street, where, no matter what you’re heard, we’re NOT having a sale. However, as a wee we’re-moving-uptown-to-the-garment-district gift, you can get a fabulous Moss T-shirt with any purchase over $118. (Yes, for Free!) The 18 is for the eighteen years we’ve been here in Soho. As you no doubt know, the phrases on the t-shirts are all rules to shop by as dictated by us. Choose from the spicy Please Do Not Touch, the paparazzi-hating Photography is Not Permitted, and the subtly anti-child message Small Children Must Be Held.
In case you’re just too important or too tired or recovering from recent hip surgery and just cannot make it down to the Last Days of the Design Mecca of the World, then you can always do it the old fashioned way and just buy a t-shirt, by clicking on any of these lovely pics. Supplies are limited. Just like the days we’ll be in Soho.
Moss Greene Street location closes on Friday Feb 17. New location opens March 1. 256 West 36th Street, 10th Floor. Same phone, same email, same attitude.
